The ICC recently participated in IP for Indigenous Entrepreneurs, a groundbreaking event hosted by North Forge and RRC Polytech that brought together innovators, legal experts, and community partners to explore how intellectual property protection can empower Indigenous entrepreneurs while preserving traditional knowledge.
We were honoured to share the stage with our business member Red Rebel Armour and strategic partner Futurpreneur. Sean Raylan-Boubar and Noah Wilson exemplify the core values that embody Indigenous business practices, representing a powerful movement in Indigenous entrepreneurship. Our Vice-Chair, Adam Nepon, joined them for the "You Are Not Alone – Community Supports" panel discussion, exploring the extensive network of resources available to Indigenous entrepreneurs.
"It's incredible to be part of conversations that focus on improving the economic landscape for Indigenous businesses. Reducing barriers for entrepreneurs, enhancing access to wraparound supports, and encouraging them to ask for help courageously are all essential steps toward success.
For years, I’ve been a huge admirer of the business practices Sean has implemented through his brand, Red Rebel Armor, and the high-quality products his team creates. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get my pair of the RRA Ogimaa shoes signed by a true Ogimaa. I encourage everyone to explore their website and learn more about this powerful movement redefining Indigenous business leadership." Adam Nepon, ICC, Vice-Chair
Furthermore, North Forge launched the event with the announcement of enhanced support for Indigenous entrepreneurs beginning April 1, 2025, featuring dedicated resources for culturally based businesses.
Key sessions included Dan Patriarca of Fillmore Riley LLP, who offered insights on protecting intellectual property while honoring traditional knowledge. The event concluded with a session featuring RRC Polytech’s incredible team, who shared insights into their robust support systems for entrepreneurs.
The ICC is proud to support these initiatives that strengthen our Indigenous business ecosystem and create new opportunities for our members. Together, we are building a more prosperous future for Indigenous entrepreneurs.
