2025 Training Programs

The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce presents four essential workshops designed to advance economic reconciliation in Manitoba's business community. These sessions equip organizations with practical tools to implement TRC Call to Action 92, support Indigenous rights, and create equitable workplaces.

Each workshop aligns with specific TRC Calls to Action and builds progressive understanding - from foundational rights knowledge to sustaining inclusive practices. Sessions are delivered by expert facilitators and incorporate Indigenous perspectives throughout.

Date: February 6, 2025

Description:
Join us for a half-day seminar on Indigenous rights and corporate responsibilities. Gain valuable insights into the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Calls to Action and their implications for businesses. This foundational workshop introduces participants to the rights of Indigenous peoples as outlined in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Through expert-led presentations and an engaging panel discussion, participants will explore the historical and contemporary significance of Indigenous rights.

Discover how these rights intersect with business, policy, and community practices, and learn strategies for building inclusive workplaces. The session provides practical guidance on incorporating UNDRIP principles into organizational policies and decision-making frameworks, with a focus on respecting free, prior, and informed consent (FPIC), fostering equitable partnerships, and valuing Indigenous knowledge systems.

  • #57: Calls for educating public servants on the history of Indigenous peoples and UNDRIP.

Description:
This session focuses on addressing systemic barriers to Indigenous employment and developing actionable strategies for inclusive recruitment and retention. Participants will learn about proactive outreach, cultural competency training, and creating mentorship programs that support Indigenous employees from hiring through career growth.
This workshop equips organizations to bridge employment gaps and foster meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities. By implementing equitable hiring practices that respect Indigenous cultural values, organizations can create environments where Indigenous employees thrive.

Description:
This workshop highlights the importance of nurturing Indigenous leadership and creating pathways for career advancement within organizations. Participants will explore how mentorship programs, Indigenous employee resource groups (ERGs), and leadership pipelines can foster diversity and inclusion.
Attendees will learn how to develop leadership programs that reflect Indigenous cultural values, strengths, and governance systems. This session empowers organizations to advance Indigenous representation at all levels, creating leadership structures that embody the principles of reconciliation.

Description:
Building inclusive workplaces requires long-term commitment and accountability. This workshop equips participants with strategies to sustain equitable and supportive work environments for Indigenous employees. Topics include ongoing cultural competency training, implementing diversity metrics, and fostering organizational accountability through transparent policies and practices.
Participants will gain insights into embedding equity and inclusion into their organizational culture and learn how to leverage feedback from Indigenous employees to drive continuous improvement. This session emphasizes partnerships with Indigenous communities and provides tools to measure and maintain progress in reconciliation efforts.
