The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is looking to fill three positions within our research hub focused on procurement, economic reconciliation and Indigenous business. Applicants should be recent graduates or current students from the University of Winnipeg, Red River College Polytechnic or University of Manitoba.

The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is a unique organization, with a unique, and growing membership. The businesses and organizations that belong to the ICC are Indigenously owned businesses, companies that work within the Indigenous community, or organizations that provide support or services to our community and play a significant and relevant role in the economic development of this Province.Â
Under the general direction of the Project Coordinator, the Indigenous Economic Reconciliation Assistant will conduct research and gather data related to Indigenous economic reconciliation. This will include but not limited to media and articles related to Indigenous economic reconciliation and what it looks like in action, best practices and how to get involved.Â
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of a work plan.Â
- Conduct research related to Indigenous economic reconciliation, what it and what does it look like in action.Â
- Assist in identifying best practices and successful models and examples of Indigenous economic reconciliation.Â
- Sharing the stories of people involved and what worked in the various project examples.Â
- Sharing statistics related successful Indigenous economic reconciliation projects. Â
- Help in the development of a communications strategy to share the success stories.Â
- Work in collaboration with other team members to align activities for better outcomes and synergies.Â

- Assist in identifying and sharing best practices related to procurement programs.Â
- Assist in gathering input from Indigenous businesses to identify the gaps and barriers in participating in procurement systems.Â
- Help share procurement success stories.Â
- Help in the development of a communications strategy to share what ICC is doing related to procurement and the results and outcomes.Â
- Work in collaboration with other team members to align activities for better outcomes and synergies.

Focus: Impacts of Indigenous Businesses in Manitoba

The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is a unique organization, with a unique, and growing membership. The businesses and organizations that belong to the ICC are Indigenously owned businesses, companies that work within the Indigenous community, or organizations that provide support or services to our community and play a significant and relevant role in the economic development of this Province. Â
Under the general direction of the Project Coordinator, the Indigenous Business Impact Assistant will conduct research and gather stats and data related to positive impact of Indigenous businesses in Winnipeg and across Manitoba. Some of the research and data needed will include but not be limited to the # of Indigenous businesses participating in our economy, the products and services they sell and buy and the positive benefits it creates for our city and province.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of a work plan.Â
- Conduct research related to the Indigenous business economy.Â
- Assist in identifying and sharing the number of Indigenous businesses and the revenue that is generated in Winnipeg and Manitoba.Â
- Assist in gathering input from Indigenous businesses as to the dollars they spend to purchased services and goods for their individual businesses. Â
- Help in the development of a communications strategy to share and create awareness a about the positive impact Indigenous businesses are having on our local and provincial economy. Â
- Work in collaboration with other team members to align activities for better outcomes and synergies.
